God has blessed each of us with unique talents and skills and He works in and through us to carry out His plan to draw people to Himself. His intent is for us to use His blessings to serve others as faithful stewards of His grace. Whether these pursuits are full-time or part-time, it becomes a challenge to serve others when you fail to make time to serve yourself.

Self-care should be an essential tool in the arsenal of any entrepreneur. The ability to balance the personal and professional ensures that we do not burn out and allows us to replenish ourselves so that we can always put our best efforts forward. If you don’t know where to begin when it comes to caring for yourself, the four tips below can help you to craft a routine that will help you keep your cup full.
1. Make prayer a part of your daily practice.
Starting your day with prayer is the perfect opportunity to seek direction and guidance from God on what lies ahead of you. Before checking your phone or making your morning cup of coffee, offer thanks for the life God has provided for you and listen to what messages He wants to offer. There are plenty of daily devotionals that also help to achieve this purpose. Talking to God does not have to be limited to the morning, however. Those who are looking to stay close to God can use any small moment to give thanks or fulfill a prayer request.
2. Maintain a healthy routine.
Taking care of both the physical and spiritual are instrumental in maintaining good health. By feeding your body balanced meals, getting sufficient rest, and staying active you are putting in the work to feel your best, which also positively impacts your mental health.
3. Engage in fellowship regularly.
During the time of social distancing, creating space for fellowship with family, friends, or fellow worshippers has been a bit of a challenge but there are plenty of options to connect with loved ones who brighten your spirits and provide encouragement to you. Many churches also offer services online to continue engaging the spirit of community that we find in our church homes. Even if the fellowship is with one or two trusted friends, gathering to share celebrations creates great memories, and expressing frustrations to them may offer a new perspective on the issues you are facing.
4. Mediation.
In addition to spending quiet time with God, it is important for us to allow for quiet time with ourselves to listen and think about what really matters. If you are just beginning with meditation it may seem challenging at first to quiet your mind but with patience and practice, we are able to go within and seek stillness. This will help us to make a habit of controlling our focus and thinking before we act to ensure our actions are in alignment with our goals.
Whether you adopt just one or all of the tips mentioned above or find another method, it is important to make caring for your physical and spiritual temple a priority. Adopting a self-care ritual ensures that you have enough fuel to pursue God’s purpose for you in this life.
