The Journey to Eternity
Life is often described as a journey, and for believers, this journey is not limited to our earthly existence. We are travelers on a path that stretches beyond the horizon, where the ultimate destination is eternity with God. The Bible reminds us of this in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
While our faith assures us of the promise of eternity, it’s essential to remember that we are living in the “meantime” – the phase between our birth and our eventual journey into the afterlife. This phase is filled with opportunities, challenges, and experiences that shape our character and draw us closer to God.
Living Fully in the Meantime
- Seek Purpose: To live fully in the present, we must discover and live out our God-given purpose. This is a journey of self-discovery and aligning our passions and talents with our calling. It’s about making a meaningful impact on the world around us.
- Love and Serve Others: The glory of God is not just about personal fulfillment but also about how we impact others. Loving and serving others is a reflection of God’s love. It’s in these acts of kindness and compassion that we find the beauty of life.
- Embrace Gratitude: Gratitude is a powerful practice that helps us appreciate the present. Every day is a gift, and by acknowledging the blessings we have, we find contentment and joy.
- Cultivate Relationships: Our relationships with family, friends, and the community are a significant part of the “meantime.” These connections offer support, love, and opportunities for growth.
- Learn and Grow: Continue to seek knowledge and personal growth. Whether through education, self-improvement, or spiritual development, every step forward is a step toward living fully.
- Faith and Hope: Keep your faith strong and your hope anchored in the promises of God. These are the guiding lights that illuminate the path to eternity.
The Balance of Time and Eternity
Living fully in the “meantime” doesn’t mean we should obsessively focus on our temporal existence at the expense of our spiritual journey. Instead, it’s about striking a balance between the two. Our earthly experiences are an integral part of our spiritual growth.
Our faith teaches us that God is interested in our well-being in both realms. While we anticipate eternal glory, we also recognize that God has a purpose for us on Earth. We are called to be God’s hands and feet in this world, making it a better place through our actions and choices.
“The glory of God is man fully alive,” and living fully means embracing the present while being mindful of the eternal. In the “meantime,” we have the opportunity to seek purpose, love, serve, and grow. We can cultivate relationships, express gratitude, and deepen our faith.
Our journey to eternity is not a distant dream but a reality we build day by day. As we live fully in the present, we are not only fulfilling our purpose on Earth but also drawing closer to the glory of God. So, let us cherish the “meantime” and walk confidently on the path that leads to an eternity in the loving presence of our Creator.
