Meet Regina Mison, Owner of The Brighter Future Bookstore.

In March 2020, Mison started her business amid a pandemic. Towards the end of the year 2019, COVID-19 was identified in Wuhan, China as a disease that could be spread through the air from person-to-person. COVID-19 took the world by storm, and with all of the fear, panic, and suffering brought on by this pandemic, Mison wanted to be a source of help during these uncertain times. She changed many of her initial plans for her bookstore and created campaigns that sought to help people remain hopeful. She promoted several ways we could all be of help from home and even started up her own fundraiser for medical frontliners and our poor indigenous brothers and sisters. Mison states, “At the heart of it all, that’s why I started the business, to be of service to others.”

The Brighter Future Bookstore is an online store that sells pre-owned books to benefit public school students all over the Philippines. For each book purchased, 40% of the proceeds go to a partner organization that cares for the country’s children and supports their education.

Prior to creating the Brighter Future Bookstore, Mison worked full-time as a marketing consultant and part-time as a teacher at a learning center. Quality education has been something Mison always advocated for; by creating the Brighter Future Bookstore, it gave her an opportunity to champion and enrich other people’s pursuit of education.

Mison’s biggest obstacle, when trying to launch her business, was launching in the middle of a pandemic. Due to the conditions of the world and its economy, she needed time to regroup and pray her way through the difficult start-up. Her faith in God served as her anchor through the hard times. Mison also raves that the Marie Forleo Podcast, a podcast that shares actionable strategies for greater happiness, success, and productivity, was another great motivator in her journey.

Mison believes that her initiative to speak publicly about global issues, to educate and empower others, is what sets her business apart from other second-hand book stores. She is currently working towards a more resilient and sustainable operation plan for the bookstore and sees great success for the Brighter Future Bookstore and many of her other endeavors.

Mison’s advice to other entrepreneurs, “Keep going.”

Even if you are facing major obstacles, keep pushing through. Mison gives all glory to God saying, “I thank Him for all my good ideas. I always say they come from Him. And, I thank Him for the passion and commitment He lights up in my heart to go out and make them a reality.”

Regina Mison is the true definition of an overcomer, and she is working to make a positive change in the lives of others. We all know this kind of work can be long, thankless, and difficult, but to Mison, it’s worth it. Now that you’ve read the story of what motivated this faith-driven entrepreneur to start and grow The Brighter Future Bookstore, please keep her in your prayers.

The company does not have a website yet but you can follow this faith-driven entrepreneur’s journey via her Facebook Page. If you would like to support Mison’s most recent initiative to raise funds for a child who needs a cleft lip and palate surgery in the Philippines, please do so here.
